Simon Harris started Flipside Jewellery in 1998 to create jewellery that moved away from the mainstream industry, that he felt seemed to suck the life and beauty out of the materials used throughout the trade.

Simon started working in the jewellery trade at the age of 14, helping his father, also a jeweller, at his shop in Cheshire. He left school at 16 to go to North Cheshire College and study CGLI Fine Jewellery. In 1995, the love of the sea and mountains drew Simon to North Wales, where he worked in the Surf industry by day but continued to create his designs by night in a small workshop (a friend's outside lavatory!)

Little by little his simple, yet beautifully crafted, designs became increasingly popular within the local community and word quickly spread. It was at this point that Flipside was born, bringing Simon's work to a wider audience.

Flipside is based at the Abersoch Craft Centre, a beautiful and tranquil setting of converted barns, where chickens and geese roam freely. The sea can be seen and heard (always tempting Simon out to play!) and Snowdon looms across the bay. It is this setting that inspires Simon's designs in the Flipside core collection but increasingly, he has a reputation for his commission service, helping customers achieve their vision for the ideal piece of jewellery.

All Flipside jewellery is handmade on the premises and then sent to Sheffield Assay Office for the appropriate hallmark.
